Layout through every phase of the build
We stake the design at the stage and tolerance the work demands, in the order your schedule needs it:
- Clearing, stripping and excavation limits
- Building corners, gridlines, footings and anchor bolts
- Curb, road and parking alignments
- Water, sanitary and storm servicing with inverts and offsets
- Grade stakes, slope stakes and cut sheets for earthworks
- Elevation control for forms, slabs and structural steel
Grades your operators can trust
Most of a site’s money moves in the earthworks, and it moves in the wrong direction when subgrade is over-dug or a lift is left high. We set and check grades so excavation hits design, provide cut sheets that reach the people digging, and return for grade checks on the day you need them rather than the day a travel schedule allows. On larger valley sites, a drone survey between conventional checks gives you progress volumes and a current surface without stopping the machines.
As-builts before the backfill
Buried services get measured before they disappear — pipe, inverts, structures, conduits and tie-ins — and finished surfaces get verified against design. As-built drawings are how servicing earns municipal acceptance in Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland and the Comox Valley Regional District, and how a contractor closes out a project without a second mobilization to dig something up. Because we are local, the as-built visit is scheduled around your backfill, not the other way around.
Valley ground, and why local matters
